To Synchronize Security on Objects from a Template

When an object remains related to the template from which it was created, you can modify the security of the template, and then synchronize all of the objects that have been created from that template so they inherit the security changes.

Note: When creating new revisions, users need to turn on the Template setting, if they want to retain the relationship to the original template.

Select the applicable template in the System Admin tab from the Classes and Attributes explorer.
To view the instantiated objects, select the Instantiated Objects icon on the Action bar. The instantiated objects display in the Results pane.
Modify the Security topic for the template as required.

Click on the Synchronize icon on the Action bar.

Step 1 of the Synchronize Wizard displays with the following options:

Setting	Description
Reset all Object Security Assignments back to the Template settings	Results in all security settings being changed, for each selected object, to match those of the currently selected template.
Add missing Template Security Assignments to selected objects	Results in all selected objects being updated to include any missing security assignments from the currently selected template. Existing security settings will not be affected.
Add missing Template Attribute Definitions and their default values to selected objects	Results in all selected objects being updated to include any missing attribute definitions and their values from the currently selected template. Existing attribute definitions and values will not be affected.
Reset all Attribute Security assignments back to Template settings	Results in all attribute security settings being changed, for each selected object, to match those of the currently selected template.
Add missing Attribute Security Assignments to selected objects	Results in all selected objects being updated to include any missing attribute security assignments from the currently selected template. Existing attribute security settings will not be affected.
Reset all Document Copy Security assignments back to Template settings	Results in all document copy security settings being changed, for each selected object, to match those of the currently selected template.
Add missing Document Copy Security Assignments to selected document copies	Results in all selected objects being updated to include any missing document copy security assignments from the currently selected template. Existing document copy security settings will not be affected.

Select the appropriate Security option, and then click Next.
Step 2 of the Synchronize Wizard displays.
Select/deselect all the objects or individually select which objects are to be synchronized, and then click Next.
Step 3 of the Synchronize Wizard displays.
Click Finish.
